Foundation of the first Gutmann car workshop by Kurt Gutmann who was 20 years old at that time.

Tuning on Talbot Horizon
Motor sport: Talbot Lotus achieved 3rd place on the European Hillclimb Championship behind 2 works BMW M1s

1982
At the beginning of the eighties, after Talbot was integrated by Peugeot, Gutmann grew into the largest Peugeot tuner in the world. Top achievements: 205 Turbo 175 PS (complete development) and 205 i16V 160 PS (more than 300 cars)

US-Tronic: Universal lambda regulation

1990
Pocket Compaa: The first and up to now the only device, which allows fast and easy determination of the catalyst efficiency on any car.

1992
mega compaa: Exhaust emission analyzer with a 4-gas measuring bench and AU II opacimeter for the analysis of exhaust emissions, which belongs among the TOP 5 in Germany.

1995
Mega Macs, a dominating product in the market comes onto the scene and wins it all (6,500 devices were already sold only in Germany). Mega Macs is also expanding to other countries throughout Europe (currently distributed in 13 language versions to 22 countries).

1996
Award for the Mega Macs innovation at the "Automechanika" show in Frankfurt.

1997
Award from the Federal Republic of Germany for an innovative product in this field

2001
TWS (Technical Center for Further Education and Training) is opened, training mechanics and engineers into professionals in diagnostics. In 2003, the TWS already welcomed 2,000 participants to its training courses.

2002
The Swiss army obtained 25 Mega Macs for training its recruits and forces
ÖAMTC* obtained 53 Mega Macs for its training centres

2003
macs 40 won the award of the Federal Republic of Germany for innovation regarding:

  • Reading / deletion of engine errors / ABS
    (only with CARB plug)
  • OBD with P0- and P1-codes
  • Diagnosis and coding of tyre pressure control systems

ADAC Yellow Angels* obtained 1.700 Macs 45 devices for ?roadside diagnostics?

2004
Often copied and not achieved: Gutmann expanded again in order to create optimal working conditions for its 30 employees. Since 1992, the most complicated questions have been put to the best specialists for diagnostics, providing help to hundreds of car service workshops on a daily basis.

2004
The ÖAMTC and TCS automobile clubs in Austria and Switzerland also equip their emergency vehicles with Macs 45. In this way we gained 450, respectively a further 280 assistants - for roadside diagnostics.

2006
New market new possibilities! Gutmann products are now also available for motorcycle workshops. The mo macs 50 diagnostic tool and the new GM3 moto emission analyser for the AUK (emission check for motorcycles) are innovative tools for motorcycle mechanics.

2007
Gutmann Messtechnik receives the „Industrie 2007“ Award.
